Moortown Rugby Club has launched a desperate search for young players as fears mount over the future of the teams.
Moortown Rugby Club is appealing for children to join both the under-9 and under-11 rugby union teams.

In Moortown, the problems escalated at the start of the new season, when team numbers were increased from nine to 12.

According to under-11s coach Paul Simpson, several players had dropped out anyway, leaving only six players in the squad.

He now faces having to field a smaller team and has launched a recruitment drive around the schools in the local area.

He said: "We're looking for youngsters, either boys or girls, to join the team, mainly from Year 4 or Year 6 at school.

"It would be a real shame for everybody if we had to fold and it would have a real knock-on effect on the club as a whole.

"My son George is in the squad and he's been playing since he was five. We desperately want more players to keep going."

Any girls wanting to join the Eaglets or sponsor the side should call June on 07526 271043.

For more information about joining the teams at Moortown, call Paul on 0113 2669022 or 07912 118333.
